Frequently asked questions about industrial flooring
We answer the most common questions about the installation, repair and maintenance of industrial flooring and coatings. If you can’t find the answer you need, contact us directly.
How long does industrial flooring installation take?
In most cases we complete the installation over a single weekend. We start on Friday at 8:00 PM and hand over the surface ready for work on Monday at 8:00 AM. We work on public holidays and weekends, around the clock, so your business doesn’t have to stop.
Do you work throughout Spain?
Yes. Protecta provides services across all of Spain, both for new installations and for repair and maintenance of existing industrial floors. We have our own technicians who travel to any province.
What is the difference between industrial flooring and industrial coating?
Industrial flooring (Betunit) is a multi-layer plastic concrete system with thicknesses between 1 and over 3 mm. It is used when the surface requires high mechanical resistance to abrasion, impact and heavy loads. Industrial coating (Corr-Unit) is a thinner solution, just a few microns, ideal for protecting surfaces against chemical agents, acids or aggressive environmental conditions. Protecta manufactures both products and can combine them according to the specific needs of each installation.
Do you manufacture your own products?
Yes. Protecta is the only company in Spain specialising in industrial flooring that manufactures its own product. This allows us to formulate on demand, adjusting thickness, colours and specific chemical resistances for each project, without relying on external suppliers.
Can you repair an industrial floor without replacing it completely?
In most cases, yes. We carry out partial repairs: patching potholes, rebuilding expansion joints, recovering terrazzo, hydraulic tiles or deteriorated asphalt. We assess the condition of the floor and propose the most cost-effective and durable solution.
What are PVC tiles and when are they the best option?
PVC tiles (Lock-Tile and Lock-Mat) are modular technical plastic pieces that are installed without adhesives on any flat surface. They are the ideal solution when a reversible, low-cost and quick installation is needed — for example in warehouses, workshops or work areas that may change layout.
What is an antistatic floor and in which sectors is it used?
An antistatic floor dissipates accumulated static electrical charges, protecting people, electronic equipment and sensitive processes. It is common in the electronics industry, laboratories, server rooms, pharmaceutical plants and any sector where a static discharge could cause damage or safety hazards.
Do you offer horizontal floor marking?
Yes. We apply long-lasting floor marking using the Duraline system: traffic lines, work zone demarcation, pedestrian corridors and safety signs. Marking can be integrated into the flooring installation process or applied to existing floors.
What guarantee do you offer on your work?
We offer a comprehensive guarantee on all our work, backed by more than 50 years of experience and the in-house manufacture of materials. Specific guarantee conditions are detailed in each quote according to the type of installation and intended use.
